Germany in both directions

Exports to Germany are mostly small shipments: two in three travel as groupage, usually up to 3 tonnes. Loading is mostly in and around Zagreb, some in Slavonia and Međimurje. We unload most often in Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia.

Imports include pipes and fittings, machinery and electrical equipment, food and timber, from Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia, Lower Saxony and Baden-Württemberg. More than 8 in 10 of these shipments are unloaded in Zagreb and its surroundings.

Typical time from loading to unloading is 2 days, up to 4 days depending on the state and the type of shipment.

What we organise

From a single pallet to a full truck.

  • Groupage

The most common option for exports: a few pallets in a shared truck. You pay for the space your goods take.

  • Full truckload (FTL)

A 13.6 m curtainsider or mega trailer for your goods only, with no transhipment.

  • Chilled and frozen

Temperature-controlled reefers, from +16 °C for confectionery to −18 °C for frozen goods. State the temperature in your enquiry.

  • Smaller vehicles

For urgent shipments of one or two pallets we also arrange vans.

How a shipment works

One dispatcher from enquiry to confirmed delivery.

  1. Enquiry

Loading and delivery addresses, goods, pallet count or weight, vehicle type if known and the date the goods are ready.

  2. Quote

The dispatcher checks carriers who drive the lane and sends price, vehicle type and timing.

  3. Loading

We agree the loading slot directly with the shipper in Croatia or Germany and send the truck and driver details in advance.

  4. Unloading

We confirm the arrival time and send the signed CMR as proof of delivery.

Most frequent regions

German states with the most of our shipments in the last 12 months.

Typical time from loading to unloading is 2 days, up to 4 days depending on the state. Your quote states the exact timing.

  1. Croatia → Baden-Württemberg
  2. Croatia → Bavaria
  3. Croatia → Rhineland-Palatinate
  4. Croatia → North Rhine-Westphalia
  5. Bavaria → Zagreb
  6. North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony → Zagreb

What affects the price

We do not publish a price list, because the price depends on the shipment. These are the main factors:

State and distance
From about 600 km to Munich to about 1,400 km to Hamburg.
German truck toll
Germany charges trucks a per-kilometre toll on motorways and federal roads, including a CO₂ surcharge.
Groupage or full truck
For a few pallets groupage is usually cheaper, but can take a day longer.
Timing
A fixed unloading slot and weekend truck bans narrow the choice of carriers.

Documents

For freight within the EU, this is all you need:

  • CMR consignment note

Issued at loading and travels with the goods. The copy signed at unloading is the proof of delivery.

  • No customs clearance

Croatia and Germany are both in the EU, so goods in free circulation need no customs declaration. The shipper provides the invoice and delivery note.

  • Liability for the goods

Under the CMR Convention, carrier liability is limited to 8.33 SDR per kilogram of gross weight. For higher-value goods we recommend additional cargo insurance.
