What a freight forwarder does for you

A freight forwarder organises the transport of goods for the shipper or the consignee. You tell us what you are shipping, from where, to where and by when. We take care of everything in between: choosing the carrier and vehicle, booking loading and unloading slots, the transport documents and communication with the driver.

You do not have to find a truck, compare offers or track the vehicle yourself. Your contact is the dispatcher who runs the shipment, knows where the goods are and sorts things out when something stalls at loading, at a border or at unloading.

We organise transport through a network of more than 500 partner carriers. That lets us pick the vehicle to fit the cargo and the route for every shipment, instead of fitting the cargo to one fleet.

What we organise

Most of our shipments travel by road. We coordinate sea, air and rail legs when the route or the cargo calls for them.

  • International freight

Imports and exports by road between Croatia, the European Union and the region. About two thirds of our shipments cross a border.

  • Full truckload (FTL)

A whole truck for one shipper: one loading, one unloading, no transhipment. For larger volumes and goods that cannot wait.

  • Groupage (LTL)

A few pallets in a truck you share with other shippers. You pay for the space your goods take up.

  • Domestic freight in Croatia

Transport within Croatia: more than 2,500 shipments in the last 12 months, about a third of our business.

  • Sea freight

Containers and larger volumes on international routes, with pre- and on-carriage to and from the port.

  • Air and rail freight

Air for urgent shipments, rail for heavy cargo on long routes.

How it works

The same dispatcher handles your shipment from enquiry to delivery.

  1. You send an enquiry

From where, to where, what and by when. If you do not know a detail, such as the exact weight, leave it blank and we will ask.

  2. We check the route and capacity

The dispatcher reviews the cargo, the timing and the conditions at loading and unloading, then chooses the carrier and vehicle.

  3. You receive a quote

Price, timing and what is included. Once you confirm, we book the vehicle.

  4. Transport and delivery

We arrange the loading slot, check the transport documents and follow the shipment. We confirm delivery and send you the documents from unloading.

Our busiest lanes

Lanes with the most shipments in the last 12 months, by number of orders:

We also run shipments to and from Romania, Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey and other countries: more than 35 loading and unloading countries in total.

  1. Within Croatia
  2. Italy → Croatia
  3. Netherlands → Croatia
  4. Croatia → Austria
  5. Croatia → Hungary
  6. Croatia → Slovenia
  7. Austria → Croatia
  8. Croatia → Germany
  9. Slovenia → Croatia
  10. Serbia → Croatia

What affects the price

We do not publish a price list because the price depends on the shipment. These are the main factors:

Lane
Distance, tolls and ferries, and whether the carrier has a return load.
Volume and type of cargo
Number of pallets, weight and dimensions decide whether you need a whole truck or part of one.
Timing
An urgent loading or a fixed delivery slot narrows the choice of carriers.
Loading and unloading conditions
Dock, forklift, opening hours and waiting time at loading and unloading.
Season
At quarter end and before holidays capacity is tighter and prices are higher.

Documents and liability

What to know before your first international shipment.

  • CMR consignment note

Travels with every international road shipment. It is issued at loading, and the copy signed at unloading is proof of delivery.

  • Lanes outside the EU

Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and other non-EU countries also need customs documents. Tell us in your enquiry who your customs agent is so we can align the timing.

  • Liability for the goods

Under the CMR Convention the carrier's liability is limited to 8.33 SDR per kilogram of gross weight. For higher-value goods we recommend separate cargo insurance.

Frequently asked questions

A carrier moves the goods in its own vehicle. A freight forwarder organises the transport: it chooses the carrier and vehicle, arranges the slots and documents and handles communication until delivery. Humble Logistics works as a freight forwarder with a network of more than 500 partner carriers.
