Road freight Croatia – Hungary: pallet distribution across Hungary

We organised more than 300 shipments between Croatia and Hungary in the last 12 months. Most exports are distribution: smaller pallet shipments from warehouses around Zagreb to customers in about sixty Hungarian towns, from Budapest to Debrecen and Pécs.

Distribution from Croatia across Hungary

Most of our shipments to Hungary are not a full truck but a few pallets for one customer. We collect them at warehouses in Rugvica and around Zagreb and distribute them across the country: about a quarter go to Budapest and Pest county, the rest to Hajdú-Bihar, Baranya, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg, Bács-Kiskun and other counties.

That is why timing is longer than the distance suggests: a shipment waits for the groupage truck to its area. Typical is 3 days, up to 5 days for eastern Hungary. Imports from Hungary to Croatia usually arrive the next day.

In the other direction we move goods from Budapest, Pest and Komárom-Esztergom counties, mostly to Zagreb and its surroundings, usually the next day.

What we organise

From a single pallet to a full truck.

  • Groupage and distribution

Pallet shipments for customers across Hungary, without paying for a whole truck.

  • Full truckload (FTL)

For larger volumes: a 13.6 m curtainsider for your goods only, with no transhipment and no wait for a groupage truck.

  • Regular schedules

For regular customers in Hungary we agree fixed loading days, so you know when goods leave.

  • Imports from Hungary

Collection from suppliers in and around Budapest, Tatabánya and elsewhere, delivered to Croatia.

How a shipment works

One dispatcher from enquiry to confirmed delivery.

  1. Enquiry

Loading and delivery addresses, goods, pallet count or weight, vehicle type if known and the date the goods are ready.

  2. Quote

The dispatcher checks carriers who drive the lane and sends price, vehicle type and timing.

  3. Loading

We agree the loading slot directly with the shipper or warehouse and send the truck and driver details in advance.

  4. Unloading

We confirm the arrival time and send the signed CMR as proof of delivery.

What affects the price

We do not publish a price list, because the price depends on the shipment. These are the main factors:

Pallet count and weight
With groupage you pay for the space your goods take. More pallets to the same place lower the price per pallet.
Delivery location
Budapest and the west of the country are closer than the east (Debrecen, Nyíregyháza).
Hungarian truck toll
Hungary charges trucks a per-kilometre toll that depends on axles and emission class.
Unloading
Delivery to an address without a loading dock, or with a tail lift, needs a suitable vehicle.

Documents

For freight within the EU, this is all you need:

  • CMR consignment note

Issued at loading and travels with the goods. The copy signed at unloading is the proof of delivery.

  • No customs clearance

Croatia and Hungary are both in the EU, so goods in free circulation need no customs declaration. The shipper provides the invoice and delivery note.

  • Liability for the goods

Under the CMR Convention, carrier liability is limited to 8.33 SDR per kilogram of gross weight. For higher-value goods we recommend additional cargo insurance.
