Road freight Croatia – Slovenia: same or next day, both directions

We organised more than 400 shipments between Croatia and Slovenia in the last 12 months. From Croatia we deliver mostly to Ljubljana, Celje and the Podravska region; from Slovenia we move building materials and pipes from Lower Carniola, the Ljubljana area and Koper.

Slovenia in both directions

Slovenia is close enough that most shipments arrive the same or next day. Loading in Croatia is mostly in and around Zagreb (Donja Zelina, Donja Bistra, Rugvica) and in Međimurje; unloading in Ljubljana and its surroundings, Celje and the Savinjska region, and the Podravska region (Ormož, Maribor).

About one in four export shipments travels on a temperature-controlled reefer, most often at +16 to +18 °C for goods that must not overheat or freeze, including full trucks for distribution centres in Ljubljana.

From Slovenia to Croatia we mostly move building materials and pipes from Lower Carniola (Trebnje), the Ljubljana area (Mengeš) and Koper. Deliveries go to Zagreb and its surroundings and to Slavonia, about a third to Osijek-Baranja county.

What we organise

From a single pallet to regular daily trucks.

  • Full truckload (FTL)

A 13.6 m curtainsider or mega trailer for your goods only, mostly unloaded the same or next day.

  • Temperature-controlled

Reefers at a set temperature, most often +16 to +18 °C. State the temperature in your enquiry.

  • Groupage

For a few pallets: your goods travel in a shared truck and you pay for the space they take.

  • From Koper and the coast

Collection in Koper and the Coastal–Karst region and delivery to Croatia, as a full truck or groupage.

How a shipment works

One dispatcher from enquiry to confirmed delivery.

  1. Enquiry

Loading and delivery addresses, goods, pallet count or weight, vehicle type if known and the date the goods are ready.

  2. Quote

The dispatcher checks carriers who drive the lane and sends price, vehicle type and timing.

  3. Loading

We agree the loading slot directly with the shipper in Croatia or Slovenia and send the truck and driver details in advance.

  4. Unloading

We confirm the arrival time and send the signed CMR as proof of delivery.

Most frequent lanes

Places with the most of our shipments in the last 12 months, in both directions.

Typical time from loading to unloading is 1 day, and many shipments are unloaded the same day. Your quote states the exact timing.

  1. Zagreb area → Ljubljana
  2. Međimurje → Ljubljana and Mengeš
  3. Zagreb → Celje and Petrovče (Savinjska)
  4. Croatia → Ormož and Maribor (Podravska)
  5. Trebnje (Lower Carniola) → Slavonia and Zagreb
  6. Mengeš and Koper → Zagreb

What affects the price

We do not publish a price list, because the price depends on the shipment. These are the main factors:

Distance and toll
Zagreb – Ljubljana is about 140 km; the Slovenian truck toll is charged per kilometre.
Full truck or groupage
A whole truck or only the space your goods take.
Temperature
A temperature-controlled reefer costs more than a curtainsider.
Timing
Same-day unloading needs earlier loading and a carrier available at that time.

Documents

For freight within the EU, this is all you need:

  • CMR consignment note

Issued at loading and travels with the goods. The copy signed at unloading is the proof of delivery.

  • No customs clearance

Croatia and Slovenia are both in the EU, so goods in free circulation need no customs declaration. The shipper provides the invoice and delivery note.

  • Liability for the goods

Under the CMR Convention, carrier liability is limited to 8.33 SDR per kilogram of gross weight. For higher-value goods we recommend additional cargo insurance.
